Koh Chang FerryKoh Chang island is served from 3 ferry piers. All of them are located in Amphur Laem Ngob. For transportation to all ferry piers, you can use any of the songthaew taxis in Trat. It is easily found in the vicinity of the municipal market since 6:00 a.m. in the morning. The fare is about 20 Baht per person. Koh Chang is served by regular ferry lines which can carry also vehicles and then also by taxi and private boats or charter boats.  Probably the most used and also the fastest and the most common connection ensures pier THA THAMMACHAT. However, lets mention all options.

 

 

1. THA Laem Ngob (pier Laem Ngob) – also known as Kromaluang Chumporn pier

 

This is the main pier at Laem Ngob. Ferries are landing at Tha Dan Kao pier (meaning, old post pier). Ferries depart in the peak season (November to April) every hour and on long weekends from 7.30 a.m. do 5.00 a.m. During the low season there are less departures depending on the number of passengers, and weather. However, you can expect to depart the ferry at least once every 2 hours. The journey time is about 30 – 45 minutes and the cost is 80 Baht per ticket and 150 Baht per vehicle, including the driver. Other passengers in the same vehicle are charged 80 Baht per person. Upon arrival at Koh Chang there are songthaew taxis ready for passengers, to drive you anywhere around the island. The fare ranges from 50 to 200 Baht per person depending on the distance. This also applies to other piers.

 

As the main pier Laem Ngob also offers the boats to different parts of Koh Chang and other islands, especially Koh Wai, Koh Mak, a Koh Kham. Taxi and private boats leave for the Tha Dan Kao every hour during the peak season from November to April and 5 times daily off-season. From here, there and taxi boats on the pier Dan Tha Mai (New postal pier) a Tha Than Mayom, but with less frequency. Charter boats are also available.

 

2. THA THAMMACHAT (NATURAL PIER)

 

Tha Thammachat (Natural Pier) in Ao Thammachat (Natural Bay) is probably the busiest ferry to Koh Chang, departing each day, regardless of holidays or days off. Ferries leave every 30 minutes to Koh Chang’s pier Tha Sapparot. The journey time is about 25-30 minutes. The vehicle is 120 Baht without driver.

3. Tha Centre Point (Centre Point Pier)

 

From Tha Centre Point (Centre Point Pier) the ferries are departing every 60 minutes. All arrive in the second part of the Tha Dan Kao pier in Koh Chang. The journey time is about 45-60 minutes. 100 Baht for a car.
